Two electrocuted as paddy harvester comes in contact with live wires in Kakinada district

Two persons were electrocuted when a paddy harvester that was being transported in a van came in contact with live wires at Singarampalem village of Gandepalli mandal in Kakinada district on Sunday. The 11 kV wires were passing over the road, connected to the paddy fields for irrigation purposes.

The deceased were identified as K. Simhadri Appanna (58) of Pekeru village and G. Sandeep (26) of Rapaka village of Iravaram mandal in West Godavari district, according to Jaggampeta Circle Inspector (CI) Y.R.K. Srinivasa Rao. The incident happened when the duo was transporting the paddy harvester to the nearby paddy fields.

Driver Sandeep touched the paddy harvester when the van got stuck on the road after the harvester came in contact with the live wires, leading to his death with electrocution. Meanwhile, Simhadri Appanna, who was driving a two-wheeler ahead of the van, noticed this and touched the harvester, dying on the spot.
