Thamma box office Day 6: Ayushmann-Rashmika film enters Rs 100-crore club globally

Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films continues to expand its hit horror-comedy universe with ‘Thamma’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The supernatural comedy, which opened during Diwali, has managed to sustain its box office run, earning Rs 13 crore on its sixth day and taking its total domestic collection to Rs 91.70 crore.

According to trade tracking site Sacnilk, ‘Thamma’ has been performing steadily since its release. The film saw a strong weekend recovery after a slight dip during weekdays, registering an overall 23.19 percent occupancy in Hindi on Sunday. Its fifth-day collection of Rs 13.1 crore marked a 31 percent jump from the previous day’s Rs 10 crore, signalling growing audience interest.

On Saturday, ‘Thamma’ also surpassed the lifetime box office collection of Varun Dhawan’s ‘Bhediya’ (Rs 68.99 crore) and overtook ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ (Rs 60.35 crore), starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. The film’s worldwide earnings have already crossed Rs 100 crore within just five days of release.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, ‘Thamma’ features Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as vampires, while Ayushmann Khurrana plays a journalist caught in their bloody feud. The film also includes cameo appearances from other characters in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU), including Varun Dhawan.

The fifth instalment in the MHCU, following ‘Stree’ (2018), ‘Bhediya’ (2022), ‘Munjya’ and ‘Stree 2’ (both 2024), ‘Thamma’ is described as a “bloody love story” and continues to strengthen Maddock’s position as a leading force in India’s genre-bending cinema.
