JAMMU: Security forces on Thursday launched a massive cordon-and-search operation in the forests of Chatroo in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district to track and kill terrorists, a day after an Agniveer sustained minor injuries in a brief gunfight with ultras in the area.Official sources said a joint team of the Army, J&K Police and Special Operations Group were combing the area to hunt down the suspects, believed to be Pakistani nationals. “So far, no contact has been established, but the searches are in progress. Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area to fortify the cordon and plug possible escape routes. Drones and sniffer dogs have been roped in to assist the ground troops,” an official said.In April, security forces had gunned down three Jaish-e-Mohammad ultras in a two-day-long anti-terror operation at Naidgam in Chatroo area and seized a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, along with Pak-manufactured caps, medicines, and first aid items.
