Monorail Coach Tilts During Test Run in Mumbai
A monorail coach went off track and tilted near Wadala in Mumbai on Tuesday during a track change operation, officials confirmed.
There were no passengers inside the coach at the time of the mishap, which occurred during a test run as part of ongoing maintenance work.
Meanwhile, monorail services in Mumbai have been suspended since heavy rains rendered the system inoperational, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded earlier. The damaged coach was undergoing testing when it tilted.
Officials immediately summoned the technical team to address the issue, and repair work began promptly. Efforts are currently underway to ensure the monorail resumes normal operation smoothly.
According to the Monorail administration, the event was part of a scheduled testing and training process rather than an actual breakdown. They clarified that a member of the public, mistaking the trial for an accident, alerted the fire department. Fire personnel reached the spot but were informed that the situation was under control and part of routine testing.
Authorities have confirmed that the monorail did not stop functioning and no one was trapped.
