In a shocking incident, a police officer, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his personal car and crashed into two motorcycles at Bharbhadia Crossing in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district. The collision left one person dead and four others injured on Friday night.
The accused has been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Manoj Yadav, posted at Jawad police station.
The crash claimed the life of Dashrath Singh on the spot and left four others injured, including Singh’s two children. One of the injured children had to undergo leg amputation, and his condition remains critical, India Today reported.
After the accident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Jaiswal suspended ASI Manoj Yadav and ordered his immediate arrest. An FIR has been registered, and Yadav’s car has been seized.
“Considering the seriousness of the case, strict legal and departmental action is being taken. The officer has been arrested, suspended, and an FIR has been lodged,” SP Jaiswal stated.
A video has surfaced which is reportedly recorded inside Yadav’s car. It shows several liquor bottles and a glass, suggesting he may have been driving under the influence at the time of the crash. Nearby, the motorcycle involved in the collision lay completely wrecked, its parts scattered across the road.
Police officials confirmed that departmental action has been initiated against the accused officer.
Visuals from the accident site show a heart-wrenching scene, the victim lying lifeless on the road with one leg severed, a girl crying nearby, and another boy bleeding and unconscious.
Following the tragedy, anger and grief gripped the victim’s village. On Saturday morning, the family of the deceased, joined by villagers and relatives, blocked the main road demanding justice and compensation.
The protesters sought Rs 1 crore in financial aid and a government job for a family member to help support Dashrath Singh’s two young children.
Local authorities further assured that the matter will be investigated thoroughly and that justice will be served.
