Top Stories: India to get new CJI, FDI boost targeted, billion-dollar IPO wave ahead

Global markets began the week on a strong note with US stock futures jumping on optimism over a possible US-China trade breakthrough and expectations of fresh Federal Reserve rate cuts.

Amid ongoing geopolitical noise, India is considering raising the foreign direct investment limit in state-run banks to 49% from the current 20% to attract much-needed capital.

Dalal Street, meanwhile, is bracing for a billion-dollar IPO rush, with major listings led by eyewear retailer Lenskart and Orkla India’s parent looking to raise nearly ₹9,500 crore.

Back home, Vodafone Idea shares surged after a positive Supreme Court remark on AGR dues, while Reliance Industries gained on AI expansion plans. The Election Commission kicked off a nationwide voter roll revision, and a strengthening Cyclone Montha prompted safety alerts in coastal regions.

Reliance Industries shares climbed over 2% after forming an AI-focused joint venture with Meta, while Vodafone Idea gained following a favourable Supreme Court remark on AGR dues. The Centre also cleared six electronics component manufacturers under the ECMS with investments worth ₹5,532 crore.
