JetBlue to add two new Florida flights not run by any other airline

As the third most populous state and one of the main domestic winter holiday destinations, Florida is served by a large number of airlines from all parts of the U.S.

Along with the main airports in Miami and Orlando, mainstream airlines like Delta and American Airlines also serve cities such as Tampa, Fort Myers, Sarasota and Fort Lauderdale. Low-cost airlines like Spirit and Breeze, in turn, also fly to smaller airports in Palm Beach, Pensacola, Key West and Vero Beach.

Currently serving 11 destinations in Florida, New York-based JetBlue Airways is now about to add a 12th with two new routes to Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) in the northwest of the state.

What you need to know about the two new JetBlue routes to Destin

The flights from JFK and Boston Logan International (BOS) will both launch on March 6, 2026 and run five times a week on an Airbus A320 plane.

Both will also run on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with the flight from JFK departing on 7 a.m. to arrive at 9:08 a.m. and the Boston flight leaving at 12:40 p.m. to arrive at 3 p.m. For the return, the New York flight will run from 10 a.m. to 1:38 p.m. while the route back to Boston will depart at 3:55 p.m. to arrive at 7:51 p.m.

In announcing the new route, JetBlue said that Destin has been seeing an increase in popularity from both regular Florida visitors looking for a new destination and those specifically seeking out a different northern Florida vibe. The entire area around the city is especially known for its white-sand beaches and availability of deep sea fishing.

Okaloosa County is also popular with retirees as a less expensive part of the state. When JetBlue first started service in 2000, its first flight went between JFK and Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL). Founder David Neeleman initially envisioned JetBlue as a low-cost airline with a customer base of Northeast residents flying to sunny destinations.

“Opening the door for Emerald Coast residents”

More than 25 years later, Florida remains one of the airline’s main markets and a state into which it is constantly looking to expand.

As part of its announcement, the airline is boasting that it runs 30 daily flights to Florida from different parts of the country while no other airline currently flies to Destin from New York or Boston; more common routes to the city go from Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis and several Canadian cities.

More on travel:

“Florida continues to be a place where JetBlue’s combination of great service and value resonates strongly with travelers,” JetBlue’s Vice President of Network Planning Dave Jehn said in a news release announcing the route. “By adding Destin–Fort Walton Beach to our map, we’re bringing more choices to customers in Boston and New York while opening the door for Emerald Coast residents to connect easily to the Northeast and beyond.”

To promote the new Destin routes, JetBlue is offering $49 flights in one direction for those willing to cement their travel for March 2026 in the coming weeks.
