A 25-year-old man was hacked to death inside the Trichy police quarters in Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. The incident has raised serious concerns over the law and situation in the state. The murder took place on the same day that Chief Minister MK Stalin was in the city for official engagements.
The deceased has been identified as Thamaraichelvan. He was a real estate businessman, hailing from Bheemanagar. He was reportedly chased by a five-member gang near Marsingpet. In a desperate attempt to escape, he ran into the newly built police quarters nearby, seeking refuge. However, the attackers followed him inside and assaulted him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.

Former Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai posted a scathing statement on X, saying, “Under the DMK government, not a single day passes in Tamil Nadu without a murder. Law and order have completely collapsed. In a shocking incident this morning, a man was hacked to death inside the police residential quarters at Bheemanagar, Trichy — an area surrounded by schools. This has raised serious concerns about public safety.”
