The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday suspended a school teacher for allegedly neglecting her duties and forcing two girl students to massage her legs in Srikakulam district. The teacher has been identified as Y Sujatha.

The incident was captured on camera and the video has gone viral. The video shows Sujatha casually stretching her legs and talking on her phone while the minor students massage her legs in the school at Bandapalli village.

The suspension order stated that Sujatha had violated government instructions multiple times.

“After careful consideration of the available material…it is necessary to place Y Sujatha, LFL HM, GTWAH School, Bandapalli under suspension as she violated the instructions issued by the government time to time,” the suspension order read, according to news agency PTI.

The order highlighted that Sujatha disobeyed government regulations by making students massage her legs and perform her personal tasks. It further noted that her actions, like sitting improperly in the classroom with legs stretched out and making students do her personal work, showed gross negligence in her professional duties.

“Sitting improperly in the classroom with legs stretched out and getting students to do her personal work shows her gross negligence in her professional duties,” said the order.

Additionally, the order underscored that Sujatha violated regulations by using her mobile phone during class hours, neglecting her duties.

According to an official, this was not the first instance where Sujatha made students massage her legs.

YSRCP Slams TDP Over Leg Massage Incident

The YSRCP slammed the state government over the incident. In a strongly worded post, the party accused the teacher of disgracing the profession and claimed the incident reflected a wider decline in the education system under the supervision of Minister Nara Lokesh.

The tweet alleged that such incidents were becoming symptomatic of what it called “careless” oversight and a deterioration of standards in the state’s schools.

“At Bandapalli Girls Tribal Ashram School in Meliyaputti mandal, Srikakulam district, a teacher shamelessly made two young girl students massage her feet while she sat arrogantly talking on her cellphone. The disgraceful act, exposed belatedly, has enraged parents and locals. Instead of shaping young minds, this teacher humiliated her students and insulted the sanctity of the teaching profession. Such behaviour reflects the utter moral decay spreading through the education system. This is what is happening under

@naralokesh ’s so-called leadership where education has been reduced to a mockery under his careless supervision. (sic),” the YSRCP tweeted.
