Amit Sehra, a humble vegetable vendor from Rajasthan, has had his life transformed overnight after winning the first prize of Rs 11 crore in the Punjab State Lottery Diwali Bumper 2025.

The winning ticket number A438586 was purchased for just Rs 500 from Bathinda, and has now made Amit, a 32-year-old resident of Kotputli in Jaipur district, an overnight millionaire.

Amit, who sells vegetables from a roadside cart, travelled to Bathinda with his family to complete the lottery claim process, according to exclusive information received by News18.

The lottery draw, held on October 31 in Ludhiana at 8 pm, included substantial prizes, with the second prize valued at Rs 10 million and the third prize at Rs 5 million, and a total prize pool of Rs 6.691 billion, symbolising Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile on Diwali.

Following the announcement of the win on November 1, Amit was missing for three days, prompting the lottery agency to search for him through phone calls, messages, and local surveys. Amit’s broken phone had hindered contact, but he was eventually traced. He learned about his win from a neighbour while selling vegetables, initially thinking it was a dream.

Amit, who lives in Kotputli with his wife Rita and their two young children, starts his day at 5 am with his cart and returns home in the evening. He had purchased the winning lottery ticket during a trip to Punjab. His win has brought immense joy to his family, and Amit has expressed plans to pay off debts, build a house, and invest in his children’s education.

Lottery officials confirmed that Amit will arrive in Bathinda at 6 pm to claim his prize, which, after tax deductions, will amount to Rs 11 crore. The Director of the Punjab Lottery Department highlighted that the prize must be claimed within 30 days. Amit said, “I have received a real Diwali gift. May God bless everyone.”
