The refreshed look marks a significant milestone in the airline’s efforts to modernise its fleet and enhance passenger comfort as part of the Air India Group’s post-privatisation revamp.
The upgraded aircraft showcases a contemporary cabin design with 180 ergonomically designed leather seats from Collins Aerospace, aimed at offering better cushioning and comfort. Each seat is equipped with a USB-C charging port, allowing passengers to stay connected during the flight. The cabin also features larger overhead bins for increased storage space and Boeing’s signature Sky Interior lighting, which provides a brighter and more spacious ambience.
In addition to improved seating and lighting, Air India Express has revamped its in-flight dining experience. Ovens have been installed to enable the serving of freshly heated meals, and the menu has been expanded to include 18 meal options, covering both hot and cold dishes along with new breakfast offerings.
The retrofitting work for the airline’s Boeing 737 narrow-body fleet is being carried out across three major maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities in India — GMR, AIESL and Air Works. This initiative is part of the airline’s broader strategy to redefine the low-cost flying experience in India and strengthen its position in a highly competitive domestic market.
