Two labourers were killed and at least 12 others sustained burn injuries after a bus carrying workers caught fire upon coming in contact with a high-tension power line in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Tuesday.

The incident was reported from the Manoharpur area in the city.

According to the details, the vehicle was transporting labourers to a brick kiln located in Todi village when the accident occurred near the kiln site.

Following the incident, the bus engulfed in flames, leaving several passengers trapped inside.

Police said the injured were immediately rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals.

Five of the critically injured labourers were referred to Jaipur for advanced treatment, while the remaining victims were being treated at the Shahpura Sub-District Hospital.

Manoharpur Police reached the spot soon after receiving information.

On Monday, at least 13 passengers were injured after a private passenger bus travelling from Barmer to Kota overturned in Kota.

The injured were rushed to the New Medical College Hospital in Kota, where most of them were discharged after primary medical care, police told news agency PTI, adding that a case had been registered against the driver and the bus has been seized.

The incident occurred around 7.15 am at Dabi Turn under Nanta police station limits, when the bus, allegedly travelling at a high speed, hit the brakes to avoid a loaded truck ahead.

The vehicle skidded on the wet, muddy road before overturning.

Earlier this month, at least 20 people were burnt alive and 16 others critically injured when a private bus travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire.

The bus, operated by KK Travels, had been introduced on the route just five days before the incident.

The tragedy occurred on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway when smoke began emanating from the rear of the vehicle.

Despite the driver stopping the bus, it was engulfed in flames within moments.
